Air pollution in Georgia as seen from Space

Study based on satellite imagery & Copernicus data

Polluted air remains one of the most serious threats to human health. In 2018, in Georgia it was responsible for around 4000 premature deaths and the economic costs of $560 million, as much as 3% of GDP. The study analyses and interprets data on air pollution obtained from the satellite images of the European Space Agency, and the causes of three major pollutants – nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, and particulate matter, and suggests recommendations for improving the air quality.
