Theme of the event
In September 2025, the event: “Environmental Protection in Georgia in the Face of Government Restrictions” was held, bringing together environmental activists, experts, journalists, and civil society representatives to discuss the challenges of environmental protection and the shrinking of civic space in Georgia.
The event focused on government approaches to environmental protests, international mechanisms to protect environmental defenders, and strategies for civic initiatives facing repression. Participants also discussed major pollution hotspots in Rustavi and reviewed findings from the Aarhus Convention Shadow Report on the state of environmental democracy in Georgia.
The event concluded with a training session on digital security for activists and NGOs.
